If you are stuck in a Tier-3 engineering college in Bhopal, Lucknow, or Coimbatore, or rotting away in a Bangalore PG preparing for government exams, that offer feels like a lifeline.
Do not sign that contract until you read the fine print.
The coding bootcamp industry in India has largely morphed into an aggressive financial debt funnel. Behind the polished founder interviews and 95% placement statistics lies a brutal system of NBFC personal loans, recycled beginner tutorials, and template portfolios that hiring managers immediately throw in the trash.
1. The ISA Myth: You Are Signing an NBFC Bank Loan
Bootcamps love the term Income Share Agreement (ISA). They frame it as a partnership: they only win if you win.
Here is what actually happens on day one of orientation: you are instructed to complete an online KYC process with a third-party Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC). It shows you know how to copy code from a tutorial, not how to engineer software.

A certificate of completion from a private coding academy carries exactly zero academic or industry weight. Nobody at a serious product company, startup, or remote firm cares that you spent 500 hours attending Zoom webinars.
Engineering interviews test whether you understand:

If you do not have a prestigious college degree or a bootcamp certificate, how do you stand out? You build Proof of Work that cannot be faked:
- Deploy real tools with real traffic: Build a developer utility, a specialized Chrome extension, or a niche SaaS that solves an actual problem. Even having 50 active users shows product thinking, deployment experience, and database management.

Keep your money. Save your family from high-interest NBFC loans. Software engineering is one of the few true meritocracies left on earth: your ability to think clearly, solve problems, and ship production code will always beat an expensive certificate.
